A Simple Scripture Prayer for the Day Ahead
There is a small moment at the beginning of my day that has become meaningful to me. Before the busyness begins, before the errands and appointments and unexpected interruptions, there is the moment I pull out of the driveway.
I have learned to use that moment to invite God into my day. To say a prayer and ask Him to direct my steps.
It isn't a long prayer. But for me, it is simply a way of remembering that I don't have to walk into whatever the day holds on my own.
God is already there.

A Scripture Prayer
The prayer that I often speak out loud in the car is based on Psalm 119:133. Here is the NLT version of that Bible verse.
"Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil."
My Scripture-based prayer is simple:
"Heavenly Father, order and direct my steps and keep me in Your perfect timing. Help me to reflect You in all I do and say. Give me the right words at the right time and protect me as I go about my day. Thank You for all Your blessings and for the precious gift of salvation. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen."
A peacefulness and assurance wash over me the moment I include God in my comings and goings. It helps me feel prepared and equipped.
This simple daily Scripture prayer has become one of the ways I begin my day with God.
I don't know what the day will bring when I leave the driveway. I don't know if my plans will change, which conversations I'll have, what interruptions will come, or what unexpected blessing might be waiting along the way.
But I can begin by acknowledging God.
Lord, direct my steps today.
And then I can go.
The Scripture Prayer Book: Wildflower
The Scripture Prayer Book: Wildflower is a 30-day journey through Scripture, prayer and reflection.
It grew from something very simple: one person writing down the Scriptures that moved her heart, and then stopping long enough to pray them.
Perhaps it might give you the encouragement to do the same.
